The mission of Zeta Beta Tau Fraternity (ZBT) is to foster and develop in its brotherhood the tenets of its Credo: Intellectual Awareness, Social Responsibility, Integrity and Brotherly Love, in order to prepare its brothers for positions of leadership and service within their communities.
In 1989, Zeta Beta Tau abolished all practices relating to pledging and hazing, and we remain committed today to the mission that all brothers are equal.
Zeta Beta Tau was founded in New York City on December 29th, 1898 by Professor Richard J.H. Gottheil as the first Jewish fraternity. ZBT quickly expanded to 14 chapters by 1909, and today boasts more than 90 chapters and colonies across the United States.
Since 1954, ZBT has been committed to its policy of non-sectarian brotherhood, and values the diversity of its brothers. ZBT will recruit and initiate men of good character, regardless of religion, race or creed who are accepting of these principles.
